The First Beijing GNOME Users Group Meeting Minutes

The first Beijing GNOME Users Group meeting was held on Nov 26th, 2008 in a restaurant in Beijing. For the first BeijingGUG meeting, we invite core remembers to discuss and plan the future program and activities of BeijingGUG.

Below is the meeting minutes:

Time: 7:00pm – 9:30pm Wednesday Nov 26th, 2008

Venue: Shenbidebao restaurant around Dongzhimen

Attendees: Elly Liu, Emily Chen, Hong Yang, Lingtao Pan, Junyi Tang, Dalong Cheng, Sen Zhang, Botu Sun, Vincent Du

Schedule:

7:00 ~ 7:45pm    Dinner together

7:45 ~ 8:00pm    Round table self-introduction

8:00 ~ 9:00pm    Talk about below areas and assign responsible people for each areas

* Regular meeting date, time and location
– The third Wednesday every month, start from 7pm. In the first four weeks, we will choose venue locations based on people’s interests and transportations.
– The second Beijing GNOME Users Group meeting will host at Wudaokou Study bar
* Build website and communication channel
– Responsible people: Yang Hong, Junyi Tang and Vincent D
– BBS will be the main communication channel, we will also use mail list and IRC as official communication channel.

* Art design
– Responsible person : Ziyan Shieh

– Core members will prepare technical speeches at least one every month
– Call for more talks
– We also have topic wish list and call for speakers on those topics

* Work on GNOME projects

– Start from localization, Accessibility and Mobility
– Call for leaders for those projects
* Organizing
– Responsible people: Emily, Pockey and Dalong Cheng
– Organizors will responsible for every monthly meeting like: Choose venue, send out invitation, confirm with speakers, make schedule
* Promotion
– Everyone is responsible for promote Beijing GNOME Users Group
– Blog is an effective way to promote

– Looking for mentors
